coach bio
My love for field hockey started in 3rd grade at the Oley Valley Youth League, which laid the foundation for my future in the sport, as both an athlete and a coach. I graduated from Oley Valley High School as a three-sport athlete and continued my field hockey journey at the University of Delaware, where I earned a degree in psychology and a minor in coaching science.
During my time at the University of Delaware, I served as captain of the field hockey team for two years and set multiple university records for career points, career assists, assists in a season, and assists in a game. In my senior year, I led the America East Conference in assists and was honored to be named the 1999 NCAA Woman of the Year for the State of Delaware. My senior accolades included NFHCA National Academic All-American, Mid-Atlantic Region First Team All-American, First Team All-America East, America East All-Tournament Team, and the America East Fall Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Additionally, I was named to the GTE/CoSIDA District II Academic All-America First Team and received the University of Delaware ECAC/Robbins Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. I was inducted into the University of Delaware Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.
After earning a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at West Virginia University, I worked as a DUI Therapist and Rehabilitation Counselor before starting a family. Returning full circle, I coached multiple sports and served as the Field Hockey Commissioner at the Oley Valley Youth League and became an assistant coach at Oley Valley High School in 2011, contributing to significant success, including a PIAA gold medal in 2023.
In 2018, I represented the O40 USA Master’s Field Hockey team in Spain and was later selected for tournaments in England and indoor Masters Cups, though all were canceled due to COVID-19. In December 2023, I played on the O40 team at the Masters Pan American Continental Cup in Argentina.
This is my seventh year at the X-Calibur Field Hockey Club. In addition to coaching, I currently serve as the apparel manager and previously coordinated the winter academy program. Here, I hope to share my passion for the game and create a positive experience that emphasizes growth in fundamental skills, teamwork, and leadership.
